I have three varieties of raspberries and they vary on how you grow them. Two of the varieties produce on the second year canes, so I will trim out the ones that have produced berries this year and let the other canes grow for next years berries. The third variety I cut completely down to about 8 inches every Fall, they grow new canes that produce berries and am picking them heavily right now. Raspberries don"t need to be babied much and once the roots establish, your patch will grow and grow. (I live in MN)
