I"ve seen a thing advertised on evilbay that if I remember correctly is called "The Flasher". Looks like it"s made out of a flashlight and is supposed to plug into the generator and give it a shot of electricity. The shot is supposed to be just enough to get it working again. Long terms of non usage can cause the generator to loose its residual magnetism.
