I have two 3250 govt. bins. One has no fan at all and the other just has a 12" bolted to the side and covered in the inside with perfferated cap. I dry corn down to 13.5% for bin with fan and have never taken a spoiled kernal out of that bin, somtimes leaving it in until following sept. On the other hand the bin without fan I dry corn down to 12% and always have 50 to 100 bushels spoiled corn when I unload. No matter if you level on top or leave it peaked it will spoil. So the moral off the story is, yes you need some type of aireation but not much. You realize if you use tile or tubes above floor you can not use a sweep auger and have to shovel the bin empty. Oh by the way last week I bolted a fan to the side of my 2nd bin so I don't anticipate any more problems.
