I was handed 2 ears this early afternoon to take into work to show a skeptic..
Both came off of 2 different farms.. Same Pioneer number though..
Both measure about 11 1/2" long, one had 18 rows of kernels, the other has 20 rows.
Based on a chart from pioneer, the farm that the larger ear come from, at a fixed moisture content and so on, from counting the ears in 1000 feet, it came out that it would run a estimated 276 bu/ac.. doubt it'll work out that good, but won't know till the dust settles.
