Evening, Picked up a new rototiller this spring. King Kutter 6ft for occasional use here and there.
I am running 85w140 GL-5 in the gear box and side case. When I checked the oil levels I can see foam in the gear box and a little foam comes out the side case plug.
Last week I ran tiller over an area that had never been broken up, approximately 50'x200'. I scraped the sod off. Then I tilled bare but compacted top soil last night. The ground is soft and the tiller sinks in good, its not bouncing or beating up the tiller. I checked the fluids today, you could still see the foam, quite a bit 24 hours later.
Oil: Traveller (TSC) 85w140.
I am hoping there is a straight forward answer why this happens vs. "just dump this super expensive additive in it, don't know why it works but it does." Not trying to offend anybody that swears by additives, I'm just wondering why the oil is foaming. I have many, many pieces of equipment and have never had foam problems.
Only thing I can guess is that 1. I am running it too hard 2. I am too high on the RPMs (above 540pto) 3. Or both.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
