I think it will work. It wont take much water to keep that slide slippery. You are already a cool grandpa for having this idea. Send photos of the kids on it when you get it set up. I"m not that cool but I did put up a rope swing in my unfinished basement for my 5 year old. Her friends thought it was the coolest thing. I got feedback at the school when I was picking her up.
