Is this a full size K5 Blazer, or a mini S10 Blazer? Your coil is probably mounted on the top of the distributor cap if it's an older model. I've had several burn the rotor right off. Seems a simple physical is check is what you ought to do first. Pull the coil cap and rotor off and see what they look like. The coils have very high energy potential, so when moving parts get worn - e.g. the cap and rotor, the coil will increase voltage until they burn out.
I've got a 79 full-size Blazer with a 305 that crapped out recenty. It died when it burnt the rotor completely off. Easy fix.
I've got three other Blazers here, but they are all diesel. No spark ignition to worry about.
