Woods 59" belly mower on a Cub. HELP!

Okay, I just purchased a 59" belly mower for my 47 Cub. It came off of a Cub with fasthitch, (which mine doesn't have), but I was able to bolt it on my Cub by removing my drawbar. Everything hooked up okay, but does it ever work like crap. I can barely get the clutch out with pto engaged without killing my engine. I can't hardly spin this thing. I did get it going and tried mowing with it and it just plain bogs down in any kind of mowable grass when I let it down all the way. I really can't believe that Woods would have made something for this tractor that performs so poorly, so I am leaning towards the possibility that I have something wrong. This deck came off of a Cub and the guy mowed with it for years and sadi it worked fine for him. I helped take it off of his tractor, so I know I put it on right. Does anyone have any idea what might be my problem?? Maybe the belt is too tight or something?? Please help. I am very frustrated with this thing. If I can't get it to work any better than this then it will be for sale again in the near future!! Thanks for any help.
