The original Redfield company went out of business in 1998. The Redfield brand has since bounced around from one company to another until it was recently picked up by Leupold. I think it is generous of Leupold to offer you credit for a scope made by another company.
By all accounts, the Leupold-made Redfields are a very good product, made in the USA. About half the price of an equivalent Leupold.
