Interesting about the dogs...there"s lots of earthquake literature re" animals sensing coming quakes, sometimes 24+ hours ahead of the actual quake, and acting oddly (it"s one thing the Chinese were using in their quake nets-don"t know if they still do)...but it apparently depends on some difference in quakes, because even the animals get caught flat-footed enough times that the "experts" scoff. When we lived on the central Calif coast we felt at least four distinctly different "quake" motions.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
