I ran propane many years in all farm equipment, irrigation motors, ect. We converted everything to butane in the mid 1950's. Combines, grain trucks, tractors and pickup trucks all on propane. We paid 12 cents per gallon back then. Our first "factory propane equiped tractor was 2 70 J.D.'s bought in 1954. propane is a much cleaner fuel and the carburation is much simpler and easier to work on than gasoline. Looking back it is kinda scary but us farmers back then aired all of our tires with propane in the field. When custom combining, we also ran out air impact wrenches on propane.
