I looked it up and they are a steel piston.According to what it said they were one piece for the ISX.The early N-14s had 2 piece pistons and later one piece pistons. The 2 piece pistons could have had aluminum skirts and a steel top.As far as I can tell the liners are all steel.N-14 liners are not black like the old ones but shiny, hard steel like Caterpillar liners are. They arent aluminum, but shiny steel most likely.I dont see how that they could make liners,in a big diesel engine out of aluminum and keep them from melting.I had a N-14 that didnt burn any oil between changes for 500,000 miles and I know those liners are hard steel instead of the old black cast ones the older Cummins had.
Seems like all of the engines like Cat ,Cummins and Detroit went to a hard shiny liner in the 1990s.I dont know about the newer ones.Ive never seen an ISX apart.Ive drove a few trucks with an ISX engine in them and they didnt burn oil so Id say they have steel liners, and it sounds like steel one piece pistons as well.
