I was gonna go 40 miles today to PLymouht to get some pellets for $169/ton, but I called and I missed the sale by about a week. So I called around and the only place that was remotely close to that was TSC selling some pellets made in Ladysmith, Wi. They were priced at $179.50/ton.
They are only 3-5 miles from the farm, so I hooked onto the flat rack and got my pellets. On my way home, I decide to swing by the farm and get off the road, just to check out the load and the straps. I stopped by the shop and when I got out, one of the front tires was hissing air out the sidewall. I already had the spare with me and the tools to do the change, but it sure was nice being able to use the impact wrench instead!
I put the tire on and grabbed another to have mounted. Brother's truck came with an extra set of tires on rims that were worn out, so I grabbed one and threw it in the back, and then grabbed a tube from the shop that used to be in the front tire of my 1600. The tube was still good, but when I rebuilt it I had new tires and tube installed and kept the old ones.
Total cost for 2 dismounts, 1 mount, and a tube/tire disposal was $10. Think I'll hold my brother's rim hostage for $5 for dismounting his worn out tire. He plans to sell them anyway.
BTW- My neighbor brought his bigger skid steer over and unloaded it all for me, and put it in his small shed that is across the yard from my house. I'll probably give him a couple dozen eggs or so for helping me out. He's also letting me keep a few chickens in his barn too.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
