We to have been upgrading tractors. We have mostly 40 and 50 series tractors. Then the boss bought a new corn planter with liquid and the 4840 was not to happy. So the 4955 fwd went on that and bought the old man a 9400 HOLY CR@@ !! WHAT A TRACTOR. Only problem now the 9400 floats on water and the 4955 finds all the soft spots. The 9400 is used for disking, chiseling, and pulling the 4955 out. Our only complaint is when we have to replace tires we have the 720 on it and the tire dealer say's 12-18,000 for all 8 . We do a lot of road travel so ouch! that 8850 is JD only attempt at a V-8 engine correct? We looked at one about a year before the old man said we didn't need a tractor that big.
