I am using Spikes I bought 10 years ago at 30 bucks for a 50 pound box.Current price is 1.69 to 3.99 a pound.Thats way better than 1/2% banks pay on savings.I got tired of picking thru cans of mixed nuts and bolt.Put in a good supply of common stuff so dont need to make a 60 mile trip when I need something.I keep a few 2x4 and 2x6 in the barn loft.Lumber has moved from 35 cents a bord foot to 60 cents. when my stainless welding rod got low I bought 40 pounds at 3 bucks a pound.Mower guards are 7 bucks each now.I have some I paid 3 bucks for.Knife sections and rivets are on hand that cost far less.It pays to keep stuff on hand.22 ammo that cost 50 cents abox now cost 2.00.Primers I bought for handloading at 11 bucks a thousand now cost 35 bucks, for while last year you couldnt buy any.Bar oil is 7.69 a gallon now I have 10 gallons I bought for 2.38 a few years ago.I have 1 can of paint thinner that cost 2 bucks a few years ago.Saw some at 12 bucks yesterday.So you can save money buying common items,They will get used.Call it hoarding if you want but you will make money doing it.
