Time does fly by as you get older. Lost my dad in 1972. He was a jack of all trades master of none. He was a tool and die welder for GM for 20 yr. He fixed alot of farm equipment in our little town for the locals, Thawed out water pipe for the farmers in the winter time. Never charged a dime, got paid on the barter system,(mostly a six pack of beer.)Took alot of pride in being able to fix things and helping out neighbors. He got sick ,went in the hospital for surgery and fell out of his hospital room window four stories to his death.I was in Vietnam at the time. Hospital claimed he tried to commit suicide, he was only hours out of surgery with five I.V.'s in his arm when this took place. No nurse in the room to help him get up to go to the bathroom. We figured he lost his balance and slipped. Miss him alot to this day. I still have the portable arc welder he built himself. Runs like a top. Lots of good memories.
