I chewed for many years, Beechnut. Got the habit from my Uncle. Never was a smoker, Dad made me promise not to, and I stuck with it. He died at age 57. Mom at 64. Both heavy smokers. Wife watched Mom go. Watched a couple of close friends too, but she couldn't stop. She had emergency gall bladder surgery two years ago. Simple "Day Stay" stuff. Unfortunately, the surgeon let the bladder get away, and dumped the poison and stones inside. Tried to clean it up (or so he said), and ended up keeping her for 4 days, and on I.V. antibiotics. Got her home, 3 days later, she started having trouble, and bloating real bad. Lots of pain. Rushed her back, and they finally got another surgeon to look at her (the first was not available to answer calls from E.R. Doc), and said he's go in the next morning, and see what was wrong. Gave her more I.V.'s and pain meds. He saw the X-rays, and blood work, and did an emergency surgery. Found stones in the bile duct, and LOTS of infection in stomach, and hole system. Almost lost her. The pneumonia set in. The respiratory Doc said she had to stop smoking, and actually breather real air. Lots of blowing into a little plastic pipe looking device, and finally got off of oxygen. She told me to go home. get ALL ashtrays, cigarettes etc, and throw them away. I did. I kept an "emergency pack" for the middle of the night if it got bad (she had tried before...). She NEVER used it. She has been off 2 years now, and can't stand the smell of them. If ya' want to smoke, I guess do it. If ya' want to see those kids grow up, and play with the Grandbabies, join the rest of us. I won't make you put one out, or move because of me. I might for my family, but not for me. But if you blow smoke in my face, remember, I might have taken up chewing again, and "turn about is fair play"... :-)

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
