There've been posts on here in the past about people running 'em at 180-200 hp for years on end, but not sure I believe it. We had 2 (syncro) back in the 70s/early 80s. The 'book' said 135 pto hp and they would dyno at that or a little better. I figured the JD engineers knew more about the capabilities of the 404 than I did and never touched the pump. They would have been a better tractor with a 466 in them........jmho. We had the rear end out of one and the original 2-spider was replaced with an upgraded 3-spider, if I remember correctly.
