my wife wanted some apples to bake pies and my daughter wants to make apple butter, so we went to the kutztown pa produce market. It is run by mennonites and they auction off local produce and hay ,straw, and firewood,Some of the stuff is brought there by horse and wagon. We bought 5 25 lb boxes of red rome apples for 2.00 a box, 6 25 lb boxes of winesap apples for 4.25 a box and 3 boxes of eggplant for 1.50 a box Some of my wifes friends bake so if we have too many it is no problem,. I took some to the nursing home when we got back so my mom could pass some around to the ladys help take care of her. My wife really enjoys auctions ,and we had a good time.
