How neat! I love family history/photos.
My dad grew up very poor, (The Great Depression), but they were a proud family. Having ideas of becoming a doctor he took college prep classes in high school, including two years of French and of Latin.
As things went he ended up attending a county normal teacher college, graduating in '37 or '38. But what he really wanted to do was dairy farm.
After helping his parents pay off their heavily mortgaged farm he saved money like a hound and nearly paid cash for his own farm when he was 29 years old. He and Mom married in '49 and had us four boys beginning in '51.
In 1970 we were "forced" into selling the family farm, but Dad quickly bought another one and at age 58 he and my oldest brother farmed together for the next 30+ years.
I only hope I'm made of at least a little of the stuff Dad's made of. At nearly 94 years, his race is nearly run, but what a life of honor!
El Toro, thank you for posting that picture. I hope I didn't hi-jack your thread. Sentimental...
