It seems like to opposite in SE MN. This year was the first of a 3-year pilot program where you can only shoot an 8 point buck or bigger (4pt on one side). Towards the end of the season here and we haven't seen any does or fawns, there's just small bucks left. Very different from past years where we would see many does toward the end of the season. This year, we're just waving at 6 pointers, fork bucks, and even small 8 pointers as they walk by and there are seemingly NO antlerless deer left. I shot a "barely legal" 8 pointer today, but in a party of 10 hunters, we've seen ZERO antlerless deer since opening weekend of our season (last of 3 firearm seasons), just a ton of small bucks.
All fall, everyone's been gunning down the does and fawns, where in the past the early season hunters have mostly been taking smaller bucks. I think we're going to see a major decrease in deer population next year.
On the other hand, there were way too many deer to begin with, so maybe it is a step in the right direction. Corn growers rejoice :)

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
