It's getting to where the birds do more damage than the deer,and that's saying a lot! The cranes go right down the rows as soon as the corn pops up and pull it right out of the ground and eat the seed. Whatever gets past them,the turkeys and geese keep it chewed down short til the deer move in. A guy just south of town here said he was planting corn one time and the cranes came in,put their beaks right down horizontal in the seed furrow and went along eating the seed from right underground.
