: : I can't get the aux hydralics on my MF 165 to work. The 3 point lift works OK but when I attach my recently acquired Vermeer bale lifter, nothing happens. the bale lifter seems to have hydraulic fluid in it when I press the quick disconnect ball valves. the MF 165 Aux Hydraulic ports may never have been use. I have checked the manual but don't see anything wrong. Is there some valve that I need to turn. How can I isolate the problem to either the tractor or the lifter?
: : Any other suggestions?

: Both 3pt controls must be moved to the top of the lift quadrant. The auxiliary valve control lever (the left one if you're on the seat looking down at it) should be pulled to the rear position and locked in place. At least that's how their supposed to work, according to the manual and 100-series MF owners whom I have known. My 65 has a separate selector valve on the transfer plate, connected to a standard control valve bolted to the fender. That is a different animal than what you have.

the 165 Im familiar with has 2 valve handles on top of rockshaft ken green is correct if you have "after thought" aux remote hook ups check your manual as there are two systems to make remotes work one takes hyd from piston type 3 point hitch pump another system (factory installed ) remote system uses a seperate pump for that purpose only my 165 has 4 pumps 3 pt,multipower, hyd pto and power steering. read your manual carefully and determine which tractor you have. then you will know how to trouble shoot your prob.
2 systems, confusing
good luck

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing. ... [Read Article]
