My brother married a lady, and divorced her too, but this is just part of her story. When she was young, her then husband (not my brother) and father of two of her children as well as one of his with another woman shot one or two Florida state troopers. He got life in prison, so he either killed them or who knows, but since he got life, it must have been really bad. He was 18 at the time and had 3 children. Being 18 years of age, if he was working, he hadn't worked very long...not at 18. Those 3 children collected a monthly social security check until they turned 18, or 21 if they continued on with college. I had once heard what the monthly total was on the three children, and for rounding of purposes, lets just say it totaled $999.99 per month, split amongst 3 children, giving each $333.33 per month from that time until they turned 18 or 21. One by one, each turned 18 or 21 and were dropped from social security, which meant the $999.99 per month went from being split 3 ways when the oldest turned of age, to two ways of about $450.00 per month, and then after the second oldest turned of age to $999.99 per month for the last child until that child turned of age. AGAIN...I just tossed out the figure of $999.99 per month to use for this exercise, but the figure wasn't real far from that as I recall hearing. I don't recall what the actual monthly amount was. AND IT DIDN'T OR DOESN'T STOP THERE. Her first husband that went to prison became permanently disabled at the time he shot the two troopers by being shot himself as I recall the story having gone, so from that time on he too collected a monthly check from the time he was imprisoned until ??? Maybe still? Maybe until he dies in prison? The whole time he has been in prison, checks being put into an account in his name that he will never be able to use, unless he gets out of prison somehow.
All of that from having shot two Florida state troopers when he was 18. The three children are all adults now, I suppose, and I remind my brother every now and then that had he kept his gun holstered like it should have been when he dated her, he wouldn't have gotten her pregnant and then had to marry her, opening up a can of worms that I bet he regrets an awful lot. For the record, he met her when the oldest child was 15 and the youngest 10 when she worked for him. He was her fourth husband, and since divorcing her 19 years ago, she is now on her 9th husband. I kid you not. I joke about my having been married and divorced 2, 4, 6 dozen times when I have never been married at all, but my brother's ex? On her 9th marriage. Yep...he should have kept his gun holstered properly and maybe even unloaded.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
