Be careful because the inertia of a spinning engine might just surprise you when you least expect it, and something could get broken or someone get hurt. Been there, done that. Not with one of my tractors, but with one of my Harleys. Clutch disengaged, didn't engage, thought was out of gear, it wasn't. Fired it up, it reved real high as I was about to shut it off, STANDING NEXT TO IT, the clutch pressure plate springs disengaged and the disks locked up real good like they were supposed to...and it was in gear. Did the best danged burnout it ever did, with me standing next to it, headed for the garage and the Buick. I tackled it. Not too much got broke. Lot of stuff could have gotten broken, especially if it roared into the garage and bounced off of the Buick. Did one heck of a burnout just the same.
