Does anybody on the forum here know exactly how Alabama enforces or interprets the law concerning license plates on utility/equipment trailers in this state? I have 2 tandem axle trailers, a tri axle trailer and about 8 or 9 single axle trailers that I pull up and down the road from time to time and have never tagged any of them. I've been getting conflicting reports from friends and neighbors about law enforcement of not having the trailers tagged. Some say that I'm exempt from having them tagged if I run an Alabama Farmers license plate on my truck, others say that I've got to have them all tagged. When I call the courthouse it all depends on who I talk to at the time I'm calling, some of the women in the probate office have said yes and some have said no, so I'm still not clear about this matter, have also talked to some patrol officers, city, county and state, and I don't think their clear on this matter. Sort of lends me to beleive its up to the officers discretion to write a citation if he wants to if he thinks the trailer or trailers should be tagged when he makes a stop. Does anyone else know the law here in Alabama. Also, I don't see anyone else tagging their trailers in this state either or than camper trailers.
