They make battery powered ones. They have motion activation sensors. I think Northern sells them. We have a couple at our cabin in the mountains that has no electricity. Seem to work well. My Snowbird Uncle had rats get into his barn stored pickup last winter. Sprinkled mothballs around the engine compartment to try and keep em away...
