20,000 pounds with a 20 foot platform and mod. 635 6 row head, minus engine power unit, two 23.1-26 tires on rims and two 10.00-16 tires on rims. That was the total weight hauled to the scrap yard.
It kind of surprised me there was that much weight but the corn head weighs a little over 4000 lbs alone. I hated that corn head the whole 19 years that I used it but when it came time to unchain it from the flatbed the thought "so long, my friend" went through my mind along with a slight lump in the throat. The lump lasted all of one second.
I did not cut it down much so the scrap yard called it unprepared shear iron and paid me 160 a ton. The crane grabbed that heavy corn head, picked it up like a toy and set it down way over on the other side of the pile, fully extended without a hint of being overloaded.
This green machine that took up space in the Morton shed for 30 years will probably come back as Chinese cars in it's second life. Jim
