Hi Heyseed We use several models of keorsene heaters from old Perfections with bright yellow flames to Kerosun radiants that burn with light blue flames for our primary heat sources. Due to cost, we use mostly #1 bulk red "stove oil." We gauge how each model is performing primarily by lack of odor but also look at flame height, color and on the radiants, how the converter is glowing. Anyway, flame appearance seems to vary quite a bit between the various manufactures and models. Does your new heater produce odor or just have a yellower flame? Kerosun, and most heaters have downloadable manuals available in pdf format. Here is a link to, hopefully, your model http://www.toyotomiusa.com/products/manuals/KSA-85.pdf. Another excellant resource is Miles Stair Wick shop in Oregon. Merry Christmas Don
