Very expensive and low performance. I am pumping water out of a pond to water my cattle using a 12 volt bilge pump rated at 850 gallons per hour, it is a Rule make. This pump is pumping a distance of 200 feet with about a 5 foot lift. I have another 1000 GPH pump that will not pump that far and is used on 30 foot, 4 foot run. There are other 12 volt sump pumps with a lot more power. I am waiting for my 60 watt solar panel I ordered to hook it up to, cost $150. Right now I have a 15 watt solar battery charger on the battery for the short run and that is maintaining it. Local Solar electrician wanted $3000 to sell me a solar pumping kit that would pump 250 gallons a day, I said forget it. I figure I am using 36 watts per hour and I run the pumps for a total of around 1 and a half hours a day. JD from New York has a lot of info. about solar, I am just getting into it. On E-bay there are alot of vendors selling solar panels now that make it feasable to use. A year ago I could not afford to buy a panel to power a 3 joule fencer, now it is cheaper to buy a panel then swaping out batterys all the time.
