My family owns and runs a horse boarding stable here in New Mexico. http://www.nmstables.com
There isn't a week that goes by that I don't have to turn down horses that people want to give me. The economy is such that horses are expensive luxuries that are no longer affordable and they have waited to the point where they can no longer afford even to feed them no less pay a boarding bill, vet bills and all. Every time I turn down one of these beautiful creatures that God has given into our care I have to wonder what will happen it. Having been raised on a farm / ranch, these noble beast became my best friends and dad had one old mare that would stand over me when I was still in diapers and would wonder out into the corral. She would keep the other horses from stepping on me although they wouldn't have done it on purpose, and shed constantly position herself so as to shade me from the hot sun. I relate this because even though I am an old man now I still feel closer to these magnificent animals than I do most people, and I wonder with each one that I have to turn away, if there is someone out there that this wonderful friend could help make life a little happier for. I don't know if there are any others that know and understand where I am coming from but if you do, your not alone and I am sure this person that is trying to find a home for this friend is doing their best to find it a home where it will be cared for and to guarantee this they are requiring the feed to be on hand. Happy New Year to all, including our multi legged friends. LarryT
