Guys, Since my College days (75-80) I have worn Hand made Boots. My two main Makers are Pablo Jass pronounced Hass of Lampasas,Texas he was old man Ray Jones of Lampasas main apprentice when Ray Jones retired, at his retirement in about 1977 the waiting list was still 4 yr long of people wanting a pair or 2 or 3 of his boots before he could shut his doors. Pablo started his biz off of the old Jones customers. My other Maker is Eddie Kimmel of Comanche,Texas. Mr Kimmels boots start at $700+ now when I got my first pair of his the base was $375 but that was over 25 yrs ago. There is nothing like a pair of hand made boots... period. I have worn out many name brand boots but a hand made pair just get better with age. If and when you destroy the bottoms, the tops can be salvaged and put on your next pair. I still wear production run stuff some but I still prefer my hand mades Beside the Jones, Toe Flower that Jass Boots carry to this day and is copied by many other makers and production run too is quite distinctive. It is fun to walk up to a total stranger and strike up a conversation by saying Excuse Me!, I do know you,But I Can tell you where you got those Boots. Does not matter where you are it is a fun line to say and 99.99% of the time His boots were made at Lampasas, Texas. Hope you enjoyed this, Later, John A.
