: This tractor is very difficult to start. even with new battery doesn't turn over very fast. also doesn't want to fire. How do you check to make sure point are set properly and condenser is good. Previous owner would use 12 volt start on battery to get it going. would this burn out points? What is proper gap? What modern sparkplug should be used in this tractor? No jump starting a 6V system with a 12V is not hard on the points. If the beast stays running afterwards, the condensor is OK. Suggest starting out with about .030 point gap, then check dwell with a dwell meter. As I recall, should be about 45 - 48 degrees for a 4 cyl. I have a CASE 300 B, am interested in swapping picures. Please E-Mail back with address if interested. JPK
