So why not just look the numbers up online, print the list and fax it or email it to them... or read the numbers over the phone and have ring man read them back to confirm? Most of my dealings are with a NH dealer ~400 miles away. They've got a toll free number... I give him the numbers. He sends me the parts. Sometimes there's still screw ups because the parts are not what they're supposed to be... but that's not his fault... As far as me explaining to him over the phone what I want without numbers... I try not to go there. He's always in a rush as they're a busy dealer... and there are so many part variations that sometimes it's just about impossible for him to know without me seeing the diagram and picking out the part... so I just do that. It saves me time. Saves him time and I find he's always very good to go the extra mile on stuff or make sure that booboo's get fixed. Last I talked to him was Dec 23 at 2pm... I needed an axle repair kit. He had it (which he normally doesn't) then had to call around to find what couriour could get it delivered to me on Christmas Eve. I know that's his job an all... but little things like that are really appreciated rather than having him say it'll go out with our regular couriour and you get it when you get it. The little porky fella might turn into a good parts man down the road if you help him along a bit too.
