Diesels in particular since 2007 ARE NOT more reliable. 20,000+psi common rail fuel injection, variable turbos, EGR, exhaust filters and cat converters. Do not make engines last longer and burn less fuel. The last real and reliable diesel was the 1998 or so Cummins with the P pump. The Cummins up to 2002 prior to common rail injection were almost as good. Few indeed are the operators now who can make a true case in cost reduction. Of a 2007 and later diesel vs. a simpler, cheaper and more reliable gasser. It's 2011, not 1985 you know. In 20013 or 2014 when the Chev direct injection V8 gassers go into the new chassis. The diesel market will dwindle further. Thanks to the diesel hating safety nazis.
