Funny you should mention Chet Atkins.
I was going to post, then thought it might be taken wrong: Allan: The bad news is, you're not as good as Chet Atkins. The good news is, neither is anyone else!
Somebody told me that your voice holds up better than your fingers as you age- and I do know that when I get warmed up, can still do a credible job on a song. I remember talking to an old geezer about this after he did a great job singing, and he made a general statement on singing (or playing, I suspect): "I realize I ain't what I once was- so I watch peoples' faces- as long as I can see that it's more pleasure than pain, I'll keep this up. If it gets to where they'd rather be somewhere else, that's when I'll quit."
Yours is still more pleasure than pain- keep on keepin' on!
Got a real kick out of your aversion to the camera- I am the same- because my face is partially paralyzed from surgery, and so my smile is "crooked" and I look pretty ridiculous- its especially embarassing in family pictures, because everybody is good-looking but me. But the kids say, "You gotta be in these, Dad- doesn't matter what you look like, the grandkids love ya and we've gotta have pics with grandpa in them." Guess I might blow it off, but I know what they're talking about- my mother was ashamed of her looks, and managed to gracefully avoid pictures, without any of us realizing what was going on. Its really sad now that she's gone, and we have very few pics of her.

Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
