When I'm selling, I price 1 of 2 ways.. depending on what I'm selling.. I either ask what I think it's worth, or I put a price on that is a touch higher than what I'd take.. but probably still less than the actual worth..
I can always decide to drop my price later, but it's hard to raise it. Plus, say like right now, I have a final drive off a combine listed.. At the large salvage yards, they're right around $300.00 for what I have. A local, smaller yard is selling them for 100 to 200 bucks.. I listed them for 150.. I figure if you offer 100, I'll load em for ya.. Of course, to me, they're worth 15 cents a pound (which is right about scrap price)
No matter what I'm asking though, I list the price.. I can't be troubled by a thousand calls asking what I'm asking.. 100 calls asking will I drop $50 is one thing.. at least I know they're considering what I'm selling, and not just being nosy.. Of course, some people set prices depending on who's wanting to buy too.. lol..
