Plenty of deer here in NY.Me and my son had bucks down opening day.Does everywhere.DEC cut way down on doe permits this year.I do believe the herd was down a bit this year though. You tell people that though and they go off on you about all the deer running out in front of there cars. These are mostly city and suburb people though.I live with them(well around them actually,LOL)I can tell when theres less deer. What I did see alot of this year was nice racked mature bucks and very few spikes,4 and 6 pointers.About three years ago I was returning home from my stand, walking an old railroad bed.I come across this old gentleman, said he was 82.And he was cuttin along pretty good too.So we started to talking and he said,YA KNOW WHAT THE DAMN PROBLEM IS,EVERYBODY SITS UP IN THESE DAMN TREE STANDS AND NOBODY PUSHES DEER ANYMORE,LOL.So after we parted I got to thinking about what he said.I think he was right in his way of thinking.I thought he was a pretty cool old dude and enjoyed talking to him.I sure hope I will be able to cut along at that pace some day with a rifle in my hand.
