: : : need help ? anyone know the manf. name of an disk made with the bearing made out of two wood pieces-grease fitting in each side : : Lots of old disks were made that way. : I was just reading about something similar. I recently aquired a couple of old Dearborn flyers (copyright 1948) featuring the Dearborn Rotary Hoe and the Dearborn Soil Pulverizer. Different rigs, I know, but this is the good part- in the "specifications" listings they read (quote): "Bearings: Oil impregnated maple bearing with pressure gun fittings." I wonder if your disc is a Dearborn? Both I and my neighbor have Dunham packers with maple bearings. Dunham also made disks with wooden bearings. So did Chattanooga, and I think a saw a McCormick-Deering with them, too.
