To the best of my knowledge no Union or Union member ever "Forced" any employeer to pay more, anymore than any employeer "Forced" a union member to take a pay cut. It was all agreed upon in negociations, and "Force" is not part of. California is also a "At Will" state. Like all at will states, you quit or be fired for any reason. Save a few examples of protected classes being fired because of their race, gender ect. Except, and this holds in all states I believe, Right to Work and Union Shop alike, you are covered by some employment contract. Then it dosen't matter if you are the best paid CEO or the worst paid janitor, union or not, the contract rules and At Will goes away. Every employment contract I ever was a part of, union or not, empoloyee or employeer, had a dismissal for cause section, and all parties enter the agreement freely, if not perhaps reluctantly . I admit to being old fashon about this, but a contract (union or otherwise)is an agreement, a promise to do or provide something, and I think people should follow through on any promise they make. I also can't see how anyone was ever "Forced" to join a union, they could go work someplace else. As for Walmart, if my family was hungry and I couldn't get anything else going I would work there in a minute and be thankful for it.
