No sense bit**in" about the weather "cuz you can"t do anything about it.
We"re fortunate here in the South Mission Valley that most of our cold weather doesn"t come with high winds. The feeding tractor is on a timer for two hours before feeding and it starts on the first turn. I put on insulated bibs and a vest and heavy jacket and go feed. I"m gettin" a little long in the tooth for an open station tractor so I bought a newer one with a heated cab and I"m getting ready to switch over to feeding with it. if the snow gets deep, we have to plow lanes in the pasture to feed in and sometimes we put straw down so the cows can lay on it in real cold stretches. We have geothermal heat for our waterers so they"re pretty trouble free. Like the Boy Scout motto, you just have to "Be Prepared".
I think the folks who have it rough are the guys in Eastern MT, ND, SD and up in the Canadian prairie province where there"s nothing between them and the North Pole but few barb wire fences!
