I took the old blower off my stove on Monday night as it was howling more than running, so I let it burn without the blower on it for a day.
I took thge blower to work and took it apart, only to find that the bearings were simply some sleeves and had oil msoaked cotton around them. I soaked them in oil again, and then rigged it up on my bench to run and had to going all day long, in the approximate position it's mounted to my stove. Ran fine.
I got home last night and saw that the new one I had ordered got there already(2 days early). I ordered it from Drillbits.com and they had it drop shipped to me from Grainger, who was the OEM of the original blower. Saved $10 ordering from the other website. The Blower cost me $60, whereas the motor or entire assy would cost me about $70 directly from Grainger.
I decided to put the old one back on and keep the new one as a spare. Put the old one on, plug it in, and it HOWLS. Not as bad as before, but it still howled. Put the new blower on it, got the old one on a shelf in the basement now as an emergency spare. Planning to buy another one in the next year or so just to have a good spare that I can put on when this one burns out.
