I don't like talking on the phone and only pick up if the caller talks on the machine and it is someone we want to talk to at that minute or an emergency (we determine if it's an emergency). I carry a cell phone for emergencies but don't even know the number and only answer it if I see that it is someone I want to talk to. I'm hard of hearing and especially with the a foreign language, need to be looking at the person talking or reading it so I can respond without aggravation and misunderstandings.
