Judging from the farm auctions I have visited in the past year, antique tractor prices are significantly down from what they were a few years ago. Unless it's a Deere, most running tractors seem to sell for little more than scrap. Non-running machines sell for scrap.
My belief is that this is caused only partly by the economy, but also by the relative uselessness of the tractors themselves. Tractors with live PTO and 3pt hitches have been around now for close to 50 years and are no longer terribly expensive (due to the arrival of low cost compact utility tractors). A property owner who just wants a tractor for occasional use doesn't want to struggle with a 60+ year old piece of equipment if he can have a newer one with more features for a little more money.
This leaves the market for the antique machines pretty limited and relatively small compared to the supply.
