I installed a Rheem AC in my old house in 1977. I built a new house in 1995.. I understand the AC is still running. Ichanged out the evap fan motor a couple times. Otherwise it works fine. That being said Rheem is not made by the same folk. Heil is probably the best. I think they are still made in Canada or Tennessee.. I have had excellent results with Heil in three different houses. My neighbor has one heat pump and a gas furnace and another AC unit outside.. Janitrol and Carrier I think. NOISY and he is always getting someone over there to work on them.. Arcoaire is a good one. My sixteen year old Arco AC runs perfect.. I think Heil may have bought them out.. They could be back in business, but that don't mean they aren't junk now. Heil would be your best bet installed by a master hvac mechanic. Your mileage may vary.
