YES, the earth's climate fluctuates over geologically short periods of approx. 10-15 K years, no argument there. What is different is that our civilization has arose during one of the inter-glacial periods and unfortunately, weve based our culture on burning fossil fuels and carbon based materials. We are atlering the climate by pumping massive amounts of carbon into the ecosystem that evolved in a natural equilibrium and are on the verge of overwhelming it. Any Meteorologist who thinks the planet (not locally isolated trends) is getting colder isnt reading any data. The "dire warnings" of a coming ice age are usually traced to an article that appeared, not in a peer reviewed scientific paper, but in Time magazine. That said, it is TECHNICALLY correct that the earth will more than likely cycle between ice ages and warmer intermissions far into the future, its just as, if not more than likely over the next few centuries our actions will make the planet very hot and very unhospitable for many life forms. When the next ice sheets wipe our cities off the map our possible decendants probably wont be around to see it.
