Don't waste your time and money on the leak detector. GM 3.1/3.4/3.5L engines have a known intake gasket problem. At 15 years old there is little doubt they leak.
Install a new thermostat and the O-ring on the distributor dummy shaft/oil pump drive while you are in there.
Figure $125 in parts, 4 hours if you are good. My local mom and pop parts store stocks 2 sets of these if that is any indication of how frequently they fail. I think the "black" gaskets are the latest version, and supposed to be a permanent fix.
