Waking up will not help. USA is alredy on a steep slippery slope into 3rd world status. REal standard of living going down all the time, costs going up. As a country we manufacture less and less, and import and comsume more and more. Average distance from your table to where your food is grown is about 1500 miles. Ground water is slowly running out, financial system is on the brink, energy dependency is getting worse. As a nation, we soon will not be able to even pay interest on our debts to Chinese folks. Too late now to try to re-create brick/motor manufacturing and train folks with skills to run the equipment. Larger and larger percentage of folks pay nothing in and get wasteful handouts. When they suddenly make about 40 to 50 million illegal criminals citizens, the entitlement systems will not be sustainable; government overthrow will result and new form of govt will not honor any of its commitments.
