Good to see you're getting the hang of 7018. It's the best go to rod there is. 6010/6011 is the other one to get proficient at. For light duty stuff and fast welding 7014/24 is a good choice. No need to bother with any other rods. The best way to fill in the crater from the previous bead is to strike your arc about 1/2 an inch ahead of the crater and once the arc is established move the rod all the way back on the crater. With a little practice you can make it look like one continuous weld with no stops and starts. You're ready to start doing some higher strength projects. Keep up the good work. Dave

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
