Not true in some areas, depends on state statutes. In one city I lived my front property line was 35 feet from the curb, setback was 30 feet, so my house was 65 feet from curb. Same on other side of street. Abuting property owners/occupants maintained area to curb. In older part of Minneapolis the property line is 30 ft from center line of most streets, forgot the distance on 4 lane streets. Sidewalk & grass bulevard between curb & sidewalk are on city owned property. City plants, owns & maintains any trees on bulevard. Occupant maintains the grass. Area I live now the township owns 30 ft right of way, roadway itself is 24 ft. Old winding cartway. Legal land descriptions normally read such as- west half of section 24, township--- consisting of 320 acres more or less, or 315.xx acres. For convenience people just say 320 in conversation. In other words, it can vary by state, county or city, check with local officials. Willie
